Tahiche
From Lava to Culture
The lava flow from the 1730 and 1736 eruptions near Tahiche is spectacular. This black and young lava contrasts with the arid soil and the mountains that predate these eruptions.
Gradually, new constructions have emerged, but the most prominent among them is the César Manrique Foundation. In Tahiche, the crater of the volcano that shares its name rises up. Its shape is imposing, and depending on the time of year, the combination of colors on its slopes is striking: reddish, ochre, green, and black. At the base of this mountain, you can observe the different layers of the earth, revealing a highly appealing geomorphology and textures.
